Next week, I’m hitting pause on blogging because - guess what? - it’s Christmas Day! Whether you’re tearing open presents, inhaling mince pies, or finally putting your feet up, now's the perfect time to unwind. But before I disappear into holiday mode, I’ve got a little treat for you: a bonus post this week – three instead of two. Consider it my gift to you. You’re welcome! 🎁✨
New Year, Same Chaos
You’ve probably heard the whole “New Year, New Me!” spiel by now, right? As if flipping the calendar will magically transform everything. But let’s be real, January is basically the party crasher of months. It’s cold, we’re broke, and it shows up with all the charm of a Monday morning.
And all that “reflecting on the year” talk? Please. I’m still battling December’s deadlines, life admin, and last-minute shopping (because, apparently, the whole year wasn’t enough to prepare for this?).
Oh, and if you’re the one already sipping mulled wine by the fire, gifts wrapped, glowing with calm? Good for you. I’m definitely not jealous of your holiday zen. Not. One. Bit. 😏
Stress, Sleep & a Dash of Perspective
So, Wednesday was... fun. By noon, I was at peak stress levels, convinced that everything in my life had spiraled into chaos. But guess what? By the next morning, all those “huge” problems had shrunk to manageable tasks - and I crossed them off before I even finished my second cup of coffee. (Let’s be real, I don’t waste time getting to cup number two. I may have a minor caffeine addiction.)
Here’s the truth: when you're stressed, everything feels 10 times harder than it really is. The key? Step back, breathe, and give your brain a chance to defog. A calm mind can turn the most overwhelming to-do list into a stroll through the park - or, at the very least, a manageable jog.
Hustle vs. Happiness
Lately, I’ve been reflecting on the “work hard” culture. If I want to have the impact I dream of with my business, I know I need to level up - wake up earlier (🥱), work smarter, and stay focused. And honestly? There’s something incredibly satisfying about ticking off a long to-do list.
But relentless hustle? Not sustainable. I have two kids who remind me every day that life isn’t just about work. Even without them, I know a life focused only on achievements would feel hollow. Sure, I get the “outwork everyone” mindset (looking at you, Alex Hormozi). But sacrificing joy, connection, and play for the sake of hustle? That’s a hard pass for me.
The past few weeks have given me some much-needed perspective. Watching my son perform bass guitar at his school concert, seeing my kids’ faces light up as Santa arrived on a motorbike, and - surprise of all surprises actually having fun during a Body Attack class (seriously, who am I?) - these moments reminded me that it’s not just about the hustle.
The Magic of Santa on a Motorbike
Speaking of holiday magic, let me tell you about Tuesday. My friend, in her genius, arranged for Santa to roll up to her house on a motorbike to surprise our kids. Not only did he bring presents, but he also knew details about each child that only Santa could know. The kids were mesmerised.
Meanwhile, us adults relaxed on the sofa, enjoying mini pizzas, halloumi sticks, and duck spring rolls (😋). It was a perfect reminder: success isn’t just about achievements. It’s about the people who brighten your world - whether it’s your kids, your friends, or even a motorbike-riding Santa.
As much as I love hitting work goals, that night reminded me of the value of balance. Time with loved ones recharges my energy and perspective - and honestly, it makes me a better person for those around me.
The Real Meaning of Success
We all hear the advice to “surround yourself with people who are where you want to be.” Sure, there’s value in learning from those ahead of you, but lately, I’ve been wondering - what about the people who just make you feel good? The ones who make you laugh and let you be yourself, no judgement, no pressure?
Those people are priceless. Yes, growth is important, but life is also about connection, ease, and having people who make everything feel a little lighter.
True Fulfillment
If I had all the success and money in the world, would I be truly happy? Honestly, no. Without meaning, it’s all just surface-level. Don’t get me wrong - financial security is important. It gives us freedom, peace of mind, and the ability to live comfortably. But at the end of the day, real happiness comes from something deeper - the connections we build, doing what we love, and sharing life with the people who make it all worthwhile. Work achievements are fulfilling, but when I look back, I don’t want to regret missing out on the moments that truly matter with the ones I care about.
Blogging: My High-Speed Therapy
On the topic of balance, this blog has been both my creative outlet and my therapy. It’s helped me process my thoughts and find clarity amid the chaos. At the end of 2024, I challenged myself to write two posts a week - and somehow, I pulled it off. But for 2025, I’m scaling back to one post a week. Why? Because quality trumps quantity. Though, if my brain overloads again, I might sneak in an extra post or two.
Setting Good Intentions - That Hopefully I'll Actually Stick To
Alright, it’s my turn to hop on the "New Year, New Me" bandwagon! In 2025, I’m all about growing my business, but I’m also making time for the moments that keep me grounded. Whether it’s laughing with friends, stumbling through a fitness class (because let’s be honest, that’s more my vibe), or watching Santa roll up on a motorbike, I’m committed to creating space for the things that make life fun.
And that’s it. No grand resolutions like "I’m giving up chocolate" or "I’m going to meditate every day" - because, honestly, I can’t even commit to eating one window at a time on an advent calendar. But hey, I hope whatever resolutions you make actually bring joy to your life... and last longer than mine usually do.
Wishing you all the best in the coming weeks, no matter the chaos that comes your way. Remember to take care of yourselves, and don’t forget - getting through the holiday madness is its own victory! 🤗
